Boundaries and Assets in the NPP District

Hilton Neighborhood / Springfield Avenue Neighborhood Preservation Plan

Springfield Avenue Partnership, together with Maplewood Township, was awarded a five-year Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) grant to invest in Springfield Avenue and the adjacent Hilton Neighborhood. This grant from the NJ Department of Community Affairs comes with funding of $125,000 per year, for a total investment of $625,000.

During the months of December 2021 and January 2022, SAP and its partners solicited feedback on the community’s investment priorities for the NPP District via a survey and focus groups.

The final Implementation Plan has been now been adopted and be downloaded here.

Additional updates will be posted on this page as the work progresses. We are excited to see what changes come to Springfield Avenue and Hilton Neighborhood.

June 9, 2022 Update

The first improvement using NPP funds has arrived. These 3 tables, including one ADA-accessible table, were purchased for the Maplewood Library Hilton Branch. Within a few hours of placement, there were people sitting, snacking and chatting at the tables.
